My Relationship with Art
I came late to learning visual art. I started taking classes as a senior in High school and then minored in art in college focusing on digital art and sculpture. Since then I have been self taught through trial and error, and learned a lot from other artists. I have taught art classes to children and preteens. I would like to teach adult workshops so I can teach complex techniques and art forms that use sharp objects and fire. Art is one of the most amazing things because it expresses our humanity in its most delightful and horrifying forms. Art can be as complex and diverse and contradictory as the people that make it. The most encouraging thing about art, is that everyone is capable of making art. All it requires is to learn how to use the tools and practice. The purpose of my art is to make people smile. I'm really a kid at heart. I like fairytales and cartoons and fluffy animals. I like to try new things and see what I can do with different tools. |
About Me
It is difficult to really explain to others about all of the seemingly insignificant things in my life that have culminated to create who I am. The people I've met, the things I've learned, and the tragedies, and opportunities that have shaped my perception of the world, and the place I want to hold in it. My family, particularly my mother, taught me to care about others, and do what little I can to encourage and be gracious to those around me. She also gave me a confident and resilient spirit, through years of nurturing and encouragement. Without her, I would not be who I am. I want to be a person worthy of respect and admiration. I have chosen to pursue a career as a Children and Teen Librarian. While I am passionate about art, and I will continue to pursue it as a way to express myself, create and learn; being able to teach and encourage others is my deepest passion. Working as a librarian is an opportunity to expose children to a million possible futures. It is funny how you never really know where you will end up or what little ideas will explode into a brilliant future. |
