Finished the Library's Christmas card. Made some silhouettes of plants then painted them in my selected color palette and moved them around to form a wreath. It was easy to edit the overall shape since I did each branch as a different piece of the whole.

A few months ago, a lot of artists on Tumblr celebrated Witchsona week, by designing a witch character to represent themselves. I designed Ophelia and her familiar Sybil; a black cat with wings. I like doing design challenges like this, because they are a lot of fun. I thought it would be a one time thing.... ... however, its seems she has rooted herself in my brain. I find myself drawing her in doodles, and trying out different styles using her as the model. I really didn't know I would like her so much. Purple isn't even one of my favorite colors... but I can't stop drawing her. In fact my profile page on Deviantart is all art of Ophelia. Its weird how characters can take on a life of their own and sweep you away with them. Because I enjoyed drawing her so much I thought hey, she needs a friend... ...and while I'm at it, I might as well write a back story... and create a magical world for them to live in.
You can see more art of Ophelia and find out what kind of magic she does ----> HERE<---- Tonight I had this brilliant idea to do some pixelling, so I made these icons. Hurray for pixels! I will be making these to order, so if you are interested in turning your characters into a box of Pocky or a tea cup, you can find the ordering information at the top of my DA gallery. I want to make some more icon templates, but I have to think of something awesome. Maybe ice cream?
The two characters I used for these icons, are Sharkysaur and my Dustling Aqua. So far I have 31 different minipet species and 43 different color themes. Once I've completed the existing color themes for each minipet I will have over 1000 done. I am currently at 142 completed. It is kind of surprising to add it all up. I made 8 new species this month! Star Fall Hollow is a virtual pet site, where you can collect and battle minipets. Each minipet has an elemental affinity which give them bonuses against minpets with other elemental affinities. The elemental affinity of each pet is displayed by an icon on the bottom right corner of each card as shown above. As you battle with your minipets they will earn attribute points which you can allocate to one of their battle statistics. Defeated minipets will drop one item required to make them. Once you've collected all of the items required to make a minipet, you will be able to summon a new minipet. As you continue to battle with your minipets the color of the card frame will change to reflect their experience. New minipets begin with a grey and white frame, experienced pets have a blue frame, and veteran pets have a gold frame. Throughout the year there will be festive celebrations, where you will be able to battle and collect holiday themed pets. These pets will only be available during the holiday season. We are still several months away from Alpha testing and probably a half a year away from Beta testing, but I will be looking for beta testers when we finally reach that stage. This project only has a two man staff, and we are devoting a lot of time and labor to make it happen. We have been working on it for two years now, since developing the concept, and it has gone through many transformations. Chris has been working hard programing this monster, between full time employment and master's studies. I have been working on the content, making minipets, backgrounds and other graphics, as well as writing the creation story, and planning events.
I would love to have other artists working with me, but I can't hire anyone until Star Fall Hollow starts paying for itself. I can't wait until it reaches that point, because adding the imagination and ability of other artists will boost the creative value of Star Fall Hollow. We are almost ready to start Alpha testing Star Fall Hollow! I thought I would show you a new Minipet I designed. The idea behind it was an alpaca with a turkey tail. I really like making super fluffy critters with tiny feet and chubby bodies. We have so many cool ideas planned for Star Fall Hollow. There will be many holiday celebrations, including two special holidays unique to the Hollow. The Star Fall festival is a week long celebration to watch sugar meteors streak across the sky. Hollow Day celebrates building the Hollow after our Starliner crashed in a sugar meteor shower, stranding us on this planet.
I look forward to sharing more with you in the future. I shared a table with Bailey Nickerson and Tivoli Nickerson of Candy Capsule at the Asheville Comic Expo. Bailey and Tivoli design and sew their own plushies. Their stuff is very well done. They also sew adorable little pouches, and make stickers. Bailey has the pink hair and Tivoli has the blue hair. We had one of the most popular tables at ACE. I brought stickers, bookmarks, and polymer clay jewelry to sell. I sold out of most of my sticker designs. I bought one of their super cute Narwhal plushies.
I've been feeling miserable all day. I ended up missing work today because of it. Anywho, since my day is already ruined I thought I would post up a picture of Sharkysaur I made yesterday. Sharkysaur makes me feel better. Sharkysaur is having a nightmare. He's always been very imaginative. You probably won't notice this, but I didn't give him nostrils this time. I'm not sure if I like him better with or without nostrils, but I feel like he is missing something without the nostrils. Do you think he looks better with or without them? This is the real reason Sharkysaur doesn't like octopi. This is also why you shouldn't leave your toys lying around on the floor Sharkysaur.
Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever watched, so I thought I would celebrate my favorite sailor soldier by redesigning her costume.
I invented this super derpy character while I was at work. He goes on imaginative adventures and is terrified of octopi. Silly Sharkysaur. This is the first character I've made that I can imagine being in a children's book.
I have been so busy with school, I haven't worked on any of my projects for a month! This week I used all of my spare time working on art in a frenzy to get some work done. I finished my Atom Bot paper cut. I like how it looks, but I think I'm going to remake it with layers of colored paper, like a paper collage. I also got a spiffy wood burning tool, and practicing my Gallifreyan on some wood disks I'm going to turn into pendants for my friends. And I drew Applejack from My Little Ponies. I've been planning a costume for Midoricon. I am not a seamstress, and only have experience patching holes, but I might as well start somewhere. I'm making a Black Mage costume from Final Fantasy 14. Its the new version that is actually black rather than blue and yellow. You can see the reference image below. I decided to go with this costume because it looks shabby and intentionally imperfect. I raided the local Goodwill for clothes I could tear apart and refashion for this costume. I found some really interesting fabric textures, and it was really easy to find lots of black clothing. I have not figured out what I am going to do for the pants yet, but I did find a floor length plain black dress that I can turn into the coat. Yay! To go with my costume I've sculpted Gurdy the Moogle from FF12. All that is left is for me to make her teeny tiny clothes, add fur to her ears and paint her eyes. Then I'll be able to glue her ears and wings into place. The last thing I've worked on are some new minipets for Star Fall Hollow. I won't share them all with you. I want there to be some surprises, so here 1 of my favorites. It is really hard to resist the impulse to show them all off.
