I can't wait to get the fabric I ordered for my my Aimi Fox plush. Spoonflower was also having a promotion to print a free swatch in faux suede. I made this tiny honey bee plush with a tiny honeycomb. I wonder how it will look on faux suede I hope it doesn't make the lines too fuzzy. I'm excited to touch it.

I just finished designing my Aimi Fox Pillow Plush and her friend Honey Bee! I changed the original design a bit for the better.
So thinking about all of the cute vinyl blindbox toys and how they are made using basically the same character shape, like the Tokidoki Unicorns, and Catcus and the Munny dolls. Oh how I would love to turn my minipets into blind box mini figures. Especially the Dustlings. I realize that their design would have to be tweaked to make it work, especially the tails, but it would be so incredibly awesome. I would collect them all! I have so many designs of these little guys.... soooooo many. Sailors are my favorite!
I love the cute characters of San-x and Tokidoki! I want to some day be able to work with a company and make cute characters to be made into toys. The hard part is that I have no idea how to start building relationships with other artists and companies.
Anyway, I am big into sculpting with polymer clay, and there are lots of great artists in the Youtube community. Popular Japanese characters are a favorite among them, and they make a lot of charms based on Rilakkuma and Hello Kitty. I wanted to make a unique character that would be fairly easy to reproduce in polymer clay, so I drew Aimi last night. I wanted to make her simple enough to share her with the art community, so other artists could make her too. I also wanted the design and shape to be distinct enough that I could make food charms shaped like her, similar to the Re-ment figures that have pancakes shaped like Rilakkuma's head. I think Aimi would be really cute as a vinyl doll. Oh how I wish the wish of the impossible. I'm going to try to make some other versions of Aimi. I'll probably dress her up in Fairy Kei. Oh how I love pastels and eye bows. If you have any insight about how to apply to work with toy companies, let me know. |
