The 2nd deck came today! This is a Tarot deck of the major arcana created by Rann Poison Cage. Now I have both sets, and they are so pretty! Oooh, and I dressed up today. Since I can't really wear this to work, Saturday is my 'dress up' day... but more often than not it is my pajama day. I love this vest, and I really like how it looks with the red shirt. You can find some of the coolest clothes at thrift stores.

I just got these two packages in the mail, and you just have to see the lovely art. I love both of these artists so much. This is a collection of 12 postcards by Hannah Alexander. She designed Art Nouveau dresses for Disney heroines. They all look so beautiful, its hard to pick a favorite. Could you imagine if someone created these gowns to wear. They would be stunning. My other package contained this deck of Tarot cards designed by Rann Poison Cage. This is the minor arcana deck, but the major arcana will be arriving in my mail box soon. These cards are even more beautiful in person. The colors are so vibrant. Each card has a detailed painting filled with imagery related to the meaning of the card. There are 56 minor arcana cards, 4 cards listing the meanings of each card, and 1 special thank you card.
Also, these cards are much larger than standard playing cards. You can compare them in the image below. A few months ago, a lot of artists on Tumblr celebrated Witchsona week, by designing a witch character to represent themselves. I designed Ophelia and her familiar Sybil; a black cat with wings. I like doing design challenges like this, because they are a lot of fun. I thought it would be a one time thing.... ... however, its seems she has rooted herself in my brain. I find myself drawing her in doodles, and trying out different styles using her as the model. I really didn't know I would like her so much. Purple isn't even one of my favorite colors... but I can't stop drawing her. In fact my profile page on Deviantart is all art of Ophelia. Its weird how characters can take on a life of their own and sweep you away with them. Because I enjoyed drawing her so much I thought hey, she needs a friend... ...and while I'm at it, I might as well write a back story... and create a magical world for them to live in.
You can see more art of Ophelia and find out what kind of magic she does ----> HERE<---- Tonight I had this brilliant idea to do some pixelling, so I made these icons. Hurray for pixels! I will be making these to order, so if you are interested in turning your characters into a box of Pocky or a tea cup, you can find the ordering information at the top of my DA gallery. I want to make some more icon templates, but I have to think of something awesome. Maybe ice cream?
The two characters I used for these icons, are Sharkysaur and my Dustling Aqua. So far I have 31 different minipet species and 43 different color themes. Once I've completed the existing color themes for each minipet I will have over 1000 done. I am currently at 142 completed. It is kind of surprising to add it all up. I made 8 new species this month! Star Fall Hollow is a virtual pet site, where you can collect and battle minipets. Each minipet has an elemental affinity which give them bonuses against minpets with other elemental affinities. The elemental affinity of each pet is displayed by an icon on the bottom right corner of each card as shown above. As you battle with your minipets they will earn attribute points which you can allocate to one of their battle statistics. Defeated minipets will drop one item required to make them. Once you've collected all of the items required to make a minipet, you will be able to summon a new minipet. As you continue to battle with your minipets the color of the card frame will change to reflect their experience. New minipets begin with a grey and white frame, experienced pets have a blue frame, and veteran pets have a gold frame. Throughout the year there will be festive celebrations, where you will be able to battle and collect holiday themed pets. These pets will only be available during the holiday season. We are still several months away from Alpha testing and probably a half a year away from Beta testing, but I will be looking for beta testers when we finally reach that stage. This project only has a two man staff, and we are devoting a lot of time and labor to make it happen. We have been working on it for two years now, since developing the concept, and it has gone through many transformations. Chris has been working hard programing this monster, between full time employment and master's studies. I have been working on the content, making minipets, backgrounds and other graphics, as well as writing the creation story, and planning events.
I would love to have other artists working with me, but I can't hire anyone until Star Fall Hollow starts paying for itself. I can't wait until it reaches that point, because adding the imagination and ability of other artists will boost the creative value of Star Fall Hollow. I've been working on a website called Conquer Artist Alley: don't just survive for people who want to sell art at Artist Alley, and for veterans of artist alley to share their experiences. There are a few blogs that cover topics on Artist Alley, including the Artist Alley Survival Guide which is what I read when I was preparing for my first Artist Alley. I have discovered since then that there are so many more topics an Artist Alley Guide could offer to not only prepare a newbie to survive the alley, but to help them and even Artist Alley Veterans improve their experience.
What unique information does Conquer Artist Alley have to offer? I am writing detailed guides sharing information about making different types of merchandise, networking with peers, improving sales, and budgeting. There will also be personal articles from experienced artists sharing what they have learned in artist alley, their mistakes and successes. There will also be Group Advice Articles that combine a variety of tips from different artists about specific topics. There will also be helpful tutorials, and reviews and interviews! Please check it out, and if you have an artist alley tip you would like to share, contact me through Conquer Artist Alley. We are almost ready to start Alpha testing Star Fall Hollow! I thought I would show you a new Minipet I designed. The idea behind it was an alpaca with a turkey tail. I really like making super fluffy critters with tiny feet and chubby bodies. We have so many cool ideas planned for Star Fall Hollow. There will be many holiday celebrations, including two special holidays unique to the Hollow. The Star Fall festival is a week long celebration to watch sugar meteors streak across the sky. Hollow Day celebrates building the Hollow after our Starliner crashed in a sugar meteor shower, stranding us on this planet.
I look forward to sharing more with you in the future. I met up with the WNC Lolita group at a tasty little coffee shop in Asheville. It was nice to meet other women interested in Lolita fashion. All of their outfits were so pretty! My sister Lori went with me, she is wearing the pink cardigan and I'm wearing the black dress and pants... yes I am wearing pants with a dress. It was cold and raining. If it had been a little colder it would have been snowing!
My new favorite characters Misha and Sasha. They are Fairy Deer Sailors. I really like the sailor theme. I especially like the colors I chose for Sasha. I love drawing cute animals!
Saturday Bailey and I went to the Chocolate Lounge to find a good place for the Asheville Art Circle to meet this Wednesday. I had a yummy seasonal apple triffle, and salted caramel hot sipping chocolate while I was there. It was delicious!
Afterwards we went to a couple of shops on Lexington, including Royal Peasantry, which makes whimsical and rustic clothing that I would love to wear. There was a beautiful dress on display that seemed to be a mix of medieval, and egyptian. It was seriously gorgeous. They make most of their dresses for fashion shows, and they are just amazing! Then we headed over to Zapow, a pop art gallery and admired the art. I ended up buying a Totoro/Secret of Kells print by Cari Corene. And, I drew these. Aren't they oddly adorable. |
